About the event
When you enter the land which I am going to give to you and reap its harvest, then you shall bring in the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest. He shall wave the sheaf before Yahweh for you to be accepted; on the day after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.(Leviticus 23:10-11 LSB) Note: Traditional Judaism and most Messianic Jewish congregations observe First Fruits on the day after the High Sabbath of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, or 16 Aviv. Many others observe it on the day after the weekly Sabbath of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which will change from year to year but always fall on the first day of the week (Sunday). The Counting of the Omer begins on this day.
